View source for Meier and Frank Building

The '''Meier and Frank Building''' stands in downtown Portland adjacent to [[Pioneer Courthouse Square]].  

Designed by [[A. E. Doyle]] and faced in white terra cotta, the Meier and Frank department store was a major commercial presence in Portland, despite the owners' Jewish heritage, a serious social liability at the time.  At times they jokingly referred to the store as "Murphy and Finnegan's".  

Frank's baronial estate and mansion in the southwest hills overlooking the [[Willamette River]] is now the campus of [[Lewis & Clark College]].
