Healthcare Rally

Purpose

Emergency Speak Out in Response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s Upcoming Landmark Health Care Decision

Rally at Pioneer Square, 2pm on the Day of the Decision! Check the morning news for updates, it should be any day. Join Oregon Action, Jobs with Justice, and others for an Emergency Rally!

The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule any day on whether two key provisions of the Affordable Care Act are constitutional. Whatever the decision is, we will continue calling for universal health care that leaves nobody out and is paid for by everyone. Health Care is a Human Right!

This date is subject to change depending on the day the Supreme Courts rule. The ruling could come as early as the 21st (but more than likely it won't). It's more likely to happen on Monday the 25th or Thursday the 28th.

If you would like to be informed immediately that day about the court's decision and rally, please text @healthresponse to 23559 and be the first to know!!

Portland World Citizens' United Front meeting

[improve]

  • Date: Friday, June 29, 2012
  • Time: 6pm - 8pm
  • Location: Che Room, St. Francis Occupy Portland HQ (1131 SE Oak St, Portland, OR 97214)
  • Jump to this event's wiki page, edit it, discuss it or return to the events page.

Purpose

The Portland World Citizens' United Front is a multi-issue, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and diversified community action group dedicated to the defense of the basic, immediate human rights for all people in the Portland metropolitan area.

In solidarity with Occupy Portland, we build community and advocate for the rights of immigrants, refugees, and ethnic minorities. We are the 99 percent and we are all citizens of the world. Ultimately, anti-immigrant xenophobia and racism hurt everyone regardless of one's ethnicity, nationality or immigration status.
We understand the human rights as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including social, cultural, economic, political, and individual civil rights.
We utilize conventional political approach, radical/direct-action political approach, and social/mutual aid approach to achieve our goals and meet the human rights needs of the people.
This meeting will be mostly for networking, assessing group strengths, identifying needs of the community, and to build movement farther upon the success of the Occupy movement.
