Oregon City is the oldest city in the state, having been founded by John McLoughlin in 1829.

It is located on the east bank of the Willamette, about 13 miles south of Portland. It's the county seat of Clackamas County. The city has the largest waterfall (by volume) in the entire Pacific Northwest, and one of the only municipal elevators in the United States.
