Memorial Coliseum

The Rose Quarter is the 30-acre sports district located in the Lloyd District neighborhood on the east bank of the Willamette River, standing at the eastern end of the Steel Bridge, and north of the Oregon Convention Center.

In the 1960s the Rose Quarter area was a thriving black community. Today the district is dominated by the Rose Garden arena and its predecessor standing next door, the architecturally significant Memorial Coliseum.

The entire district is considered problematic because of its relative hostility to pedestrians, questions about the viability of the Coliseum, and reliable traffic bottlenecks on I-5. Various redevelopment plans are being argued over.
