Simon Benson (1852-1942) was a timber executive, civic leader and philanthropist.

He personally funded the building of the Simon Benson House and the Benson Hotel, and donated the money that funded the Benson Bubblers and Benson Polytechnic High School. He was also an early investor and promoter of properties along the Columbia River Gorge.

Benson is buried in Riverview Cemetery.
