University of Portland is a private Catholic university in the University Park neighborhood.

The school was founded in 1901 on a bluff (called Waud's Bluff) with a commanding view of the Willamette River and the industrial thing that has become Swan Island. Enrollment is about 3500 students. Architecturally the highlight of the campus is probably the chapel designed in the early 1980s by Pietro Belluschi.
