The City of Portland's Portland Climate Action Now! initiative aspires to help Portlandians "reduce your carbon emissions and make a real difference on climate change in four key areas":

  • Healthy Home
  • Getting Around
  • Your Stuff
  • Food Choices

From the City of Portland's Bureau of Planning and Sustainability Climate Protection[1] page:

Taking action on climate change can seem overwhelming. But residents like you are already taking important steps to move us in the right direction.

The choices we make everyday about food, heating and powering our homes, getting around and buying and disposing of stuff make up more than half of all local carbon emissions. We all have an important role to play.

The good news is, making choices that protect the climate makes sense in our everyday lives. These choices help us save money, be healthy, support our local economy and connect with family, friends and community.

The Portland Climate Action Now! campaign can help you reduce your greenhouse gas emissions and make a real difference on climate change in these four areas: Healthy Home, Getting Around, Your Stuff, and Food Choices.

Portland Climate Action Now! puts the 2009 Climate Action Plan to work! The Climate Action Plan was adopted by Portland City Council and Multnomah County’s Board of Commissioners in October, 2009.
