Downtown is one of the neighborhoods of Southwest Portland and is the site of the original Portland township. Downtown's boundaries roughly correspond to I-405 on the West and South, Burnside Street on the North, and the Willamette River on the East. Today, Downtown is the city's financial district, as well as supporting a strong retail core. Portland State University is located in Downtown, as is the nearby Cultural District.
