The "Eastside" is a colloquial definition for any part of Portland that is on the east side of the Willamette River. People iln North Portland, Northeast Portland, and Southeast Portland all commonly refer to themselves as living on the "Eastside".
Because of the political and historical division of the Five Quadrants, there is a belief that the Westside is more influential to the city's politics, and the Eastside is under-represented, especially when the farther reaches is concerned.
