'''Lownsdale Square''', along with its southern neighbor [[Chapman Square]], comprises the [[Plaza Blocks]]. The square is named after the pioneer leather tanner [[Daniel Lownsdale]]. In the past, Lownsdale Square was segregated into a men-only part of the Plaza Blocks.

Lownsdale Square was "occupied" by [[Occupy Portland]] from October 6th, 2011, through the forced eviction on November 13th, 2011.
